A half-day archaeological experience. Discover the only archaeological site in San Miguel and learn about the people that inhabited this land in the ancient past. Listen to the different theories regarding their life and demise, and learn about the alignment of the structures with the stars. Enjoy a lovely regional Mexican meal at the end of the tour.

IMPORTANT: You are not allowed to bring any bags or backpacks into the site, so you’ll have to leave them at the tourist center. Only things you can bring in are cameras/phones and water bottles. Also, the walk up to the site is about a mile long and with an incline. The terrain is even but the walk is long. Bring sunblock, hats, sunglasses and comfortable footwear. We are happy to provide hats and umbrellas free of charge.

This incredible tour will take you to an amazing archaeological site right here near San Miguel. Cañada de la Virgen is an Otomí site, a culture that inhabited this area for hundreds of years.

We’ll drive to the visitor’s center where we’ll have the chance to visit a small museum as we wait for our ride to the entrance of the site.

Then we’ll take a van to the entrance of the property where we’ll have to walk about a mile to the temples and archaeological remains.

There is no rush, and we’ll walk at your own pace, which will also let us experience the magnificent landscapes.

Once there, we’ll visit the temples, remains and a small botanical garden of local flora.

We’ll be able to climb the main temple and walk around the sunken plaza where the ceremonies where held.

After our tour, we’ll visit a local community to enjoy a regional Mexican lunch with options for everyone.

Price includes all taxes and fees, transportation from and back to San Miguel de Allende, all entrance fees, unlimited cold purified water, a snack, full lunch and your own private guide who will accompany you in the vehicle and at the site.

Deposit is $20 USD per person to complete the booking. Balance is to be paid in cash only on the day of the tour in USD or MXN. If you prefer to pay your balance with a credit card that can be processed with a +6% transaction fee.
